Agreement between “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Facade” PLC, Port HaminaKotka and Cursor Oy.

On December 9
th 2015 in the city of Kotka, Republic of Finland, an agreement on cooperation was signed between “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC, Port HaminaKotka Oy and Cursor Oy. The agreement was signed in presence of the mayor of Kotka, as part of implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects of the Cross-Border Cooperation program “South-East Finland – Russia 2014-2020” of the European Neighborhood Instrument. During the negotiations that preceded the signing it was noted that Passenger port is the only transport facility in the North-West of Russian Federation that participated in the program.
The purpose of the agreement is to establish water communication between the cities of Kotka and St. Petersburg. Under the agreement the parties will participate in the following projects:
- reconstruction of the Russian Federation state border checkpoint at the seaport Passenger port of Saint Petersburg
- infrastructure project “Creating conditions for international ferry traffic at the Kotka Kantasatama terminal”
- attracting ferry and cruise line operators to set up constant passenger traffic between Passenger port of Saint Petersburg and Port HaminaKotka as part of implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects of the Cross-Border Cooperation program “South-East Finland – Russia 2014-2020” of the European Neighborhood Instrument.
In this initiative “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC has the support of the S. Petersburg Committee on Transport, “Rosgranitsa” Federal Agency, Ministry of Transport of Russian Federation. Presently the program is at the last stage of the European Commission review, which is expected to be concluded with program approval before the end of December 2015. Signing of the cooperation agreement is a part of the said program.
Also during the visit representatives of “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC have visited the Port HaminaKotka including its passenger terminal, which is planned to be reconstructed within the framework of the Cross-Border Cooperation program. The parties have discussed the project deadlines and prospects, and indicated the closest joint initiatives.
