On May 24th at the Passenger Port of St. Petersburg the Prevention of Pollution by Sewage from Ships in the Baltic sea was discussed

Today on May 24th a meeting with CLIA representatives was held at the Passenger Port of St. Petersburg during their visit. During the meeting participants discussed the relevant issues on the ecological safety of cruise shipping in Baltic sea. Charles Von Darr IV, CLIA’s Senior Vice President for Technical & Regulatory Affairs, and Diego Llorens Echegaray, CLIA’s advisor, disembarked the AIDAmar which makes a cruise around the Baltic sea calling ports of Sweden and Finland. The goal of this visit is to demonstrate the implementation of the commitments on prohibition of discharge of sewage into the open sea undertaken by the cruise lines in compliance with MARPOL IV.
During the meeting the representatives of Passenger port of St. Petersburg demonstrated Port's infrastructure and informed the guests about the procedures of wastewater and garbage collection and fresh water bunkering.
The CLIA representatives in return provided latest news on current main activities of association, future plans and implementation status of the projects on the prevention of environmental threats to Baltic Sea.Participants of the meeting discussed further plans of joint activities.
