On June 25th cruise ship Koningsdam operated by Holland America Line made its inaugural call to the Passenger port of Saint Petersburg.
Koningsdam is a Pinnacle-class ship built in 2016. "Koning" means "king" in Dutch. Koningsdam is named after the king of the Netherlands - William Alexander, who ascended the throne in 2013.
According to Holland America Line’s tradition Dutch royalty Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands christened Koningsdam during a ceremony in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on May 20th.
Ship has 12 passenger decks, length of 296 meters and capacity of carrying 2650 passengers on board. Koningsdam is characterized by a modern and contemporary style which blends perfectly with the traditional classic elegance, high-tech solutions and distinguished design.The ship offers any-taste activities: restaurants, night clubs, swimming pools, art-gallery, library, Greenhouse Spa&Salon, sport courts, shops gallery and 2-level World Stage theatre with 270-degree wall of high-definition LED screen.
Holland America Line celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2013. In 1989, Holland America Line Inc. became a wholly owned subsidiary of Carnival Corp., the largest cruise company in the world. The company’s fleet of 14 ships annually offers cruises to 415 ports of call around 7 continents. Koningsdam has become the largest ship in the fleet.
On June 19th ship started its 15-days cruise around the Baltic sea calling the ports of Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Rostock, Tallinn, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockgholm, Kiel, Goteborg.
During the 2016 cruise season Koningsdam will make 2 calls to the Passenger port of Saint Petersburg.
