Inaugural call of Europa 2

On August 14th, cruise ship Europa 2 made its Inaugural call to Passenger port of St. Petersburg. Ships operated by Hapag-Lloyd Cruises have never called the Port before.
Ship was built in 2013 at the STX Europe shipyard at St-Nazaire, France. She was christened on 10 May 2013, during the 824th Hamburg Port Anniversary.
She has 10 decks, 225 meters length and capacity of carrying more than 500 passengers on board. Europa 2 décor is contemporary. The art collection aboard Europa 2 is one of the largest at sea, with 890 originals commissioned exclusively for the vessel and focused on contemporary pieces.
The ship has been awarded of 5-stars-plus by the Berlitz Cruise Guide 2016.
A German cruise company Hapag-Lloyd is the result of the merger in 1970 of two of Germany's oldest steam ship companies: Hapag and Norddeutscher Lloyd. In 2002 a cruise company entered Tui Group. Traditionally a welcome plaque ceremony was arranged on board the vessel.
On August 7th ship started its 8-days cruise around the Baltic sea calling the ports of Hamburg, Kiel, Bornholm , Klaipeda, Riga, Helsinki, St. Petersburg.
Today, on August, 15th, Passenger port of St. Petersburg again operates as turnaround port. It will be the starting point of Europa 2 cruise around the Baltic region. The Port will handle the change of more than half of passengers.
