The annual meeting of the Soviet and Russian sports heroes

Today, on October 18
th, together with “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC the traditional meeting of the St. Petersburg “Famous Champions Club” has taken place.
When the Club members gathered on the central pier of St. Petersburg "Descent with Lions" at the Palace Bridge, sportspersons took a memorable picture and went on a boat trip along the Neva River.
The Club meeting was opened by Yuri Avdeyev, chairman of the St. Petersburg Olympic Council and deputy at the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly, and also Pavel Belov, deputy chairman of the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports. Traditionally the event was led by the press attaché of the Olympic Council of St. Petersburg Oleg Vdovin and the three-time Olympic champion in athletics Tatyana Kazankina. "My Sports Olympus" - the theme of this year's meeting of the Club.
This time the meeting brought together the greatest athletes, Olympic champions, masters of sports and coaches: biathlonists Anatoly Alyabyev, Dmitry Vasilyev and Yury Kashkarov, athletes Tatyana Anisimova, Natalya Antyukh and Sergey Syrov, figure skaters Elena Berezhnaya and Oksana Kazakova, the Olympic champion in free-style wrestling Natalya Vorobyova, the numerous champion and the prize-winner of the Olympic Games in artistic gymnastics Alexander Dityatin, skiers Lyubov Egorova and Lyubov Mukhacheva, the silver medal winner Olympic games in rowing Galina Yermolaeva, Olympic champions on fencing Victor Zhdanovich, swimming Sergey Koplyakov, volleyball Vera Lantratova and in bicycle sport Vladimir Osokin and Sergey Sukhoruchenkov, as well as other prominent figures of the national sport.
At the end of a friendly evening, the participants agreed to promote the development of sports in St. Petersburg, a culture of healthy and active lifestyle among Petersburgers, and also supported the initiative of “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC in the organization at the Port’s territory various sports and cultural events for inhabitants and the city visitors, including an annual sports festival "Marine mile".
