The Passenger Port took part in the SPIEF’18

29 May 2018

As part of the Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF’18), which was held last week on May 24–26, 2018, the directors of the  Passenger Port of Saint-Petersburg “Marine Facade”, PLC (PP SPb MF, PLC), together with representatives of the relevant committees of Saint Petersburg, presented an interactive layout of the “River Facade”, which is supposed to be located on the bank of the Neva River at the southern outskirts of the city, 1 km from the Ring Road and the Big Obukhovo Bridge. This location will provide for good transport accessibility of the facility. The project of the river passenger port provides for not only building berths and a station facility, but also the improvement of the territory around the new terminal with the construction of a promenade along the Neva embankment.

It is planned that this infrastructure will annually serve more than 200,000 passengers. At the same time, the infrastructure of the “River Façade”, following the example of the  Passenger Port of Saint-Petersburg “Sea Facade”, will meet the most modern requirements for servicing both passengers and ships.

The layout of the river passenger port has received a positive evaluation by the Governor of the City Georgy Poltavchenko. After the negotiations involving PP SPb MF, PLC, an agreement of intent was signed between the Government of Saint Petersburg and the Eurasian Development Bank for the implementation of the river port construction project. According to the city administration, the new river port will give impetus to the development of domestic passenger traffic and attraction of tourists, that are now experiencing difficulties due to undeveloped infrastructure.

The interactive layout of the river port at the Saint Petersburg stand was also visited by Aleksandr Golovin, a Member of the Saint Petersburg Government – the Chairman of the Transport Committee; Rustem Khamitov, the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan; Vyacheslav Makarov, the Chairman of the Saint Petersburg Legislative Assembly; Irina Ivanova, a Member of the Saint Petersburg Legislative Assembly; Aleksey Makarov, a Member of the Saint Petersburg Legislative Assembly – the Chairman of the Commission on Industry, Economy, and Entrepreneurship; Nikolay Lebedev, the President of the Transas Group; Rostislav Chernyshev, the General Director of Pulkovo Airport; Sergey Voronkov, the General Director of ExpoForum-International; Valery Mikheev, the President of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Russian State Hydrometeorological University” .

In addition, during the SPIEF’18, PP SPb MF, PLC presented the concept of establishing the Sea Passenger Shipping Company. One of the main objectives of this project is to load the Passenger Port’s infrastructure during the “low” season from November to April, when cruise traffic in the Baltic region is not carried out by other companies. The project implementation will revive the glorious traditions of the passenger fleet at the Baltic Sea. Now, an example of the implementation of such projects is launching the Prince Vladimir cruise ship at the Black Sea, which connects the ports of Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory.

As part of SPIEF’18, Vadim Kashirin, the General Director PP SPb MF, PLC, held a working meeting with Victor Olersky, the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation – the Head of the Federal Agency for Marine and River Transport, and Andrey Lavrishchev, the General Director of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Rosmorport”, at which the prospects for further development of the Passenger Port were discussed.

In addition, PP SPb MF, PLC signed a tripartite cooperation agreement with Central Design Office for Hydrofoil Ships named after R.E. Alekseev, JSC and Research-and-Production Enterprise “Radar mms” for promoting marine hydrofoil vessels to internal and external markets.

It is worth noting that, this year, the SPIEF was attended by 17 thousand people coming from 143 countries; the most representative delegations were American, Japanese, and French ones. A total of 550 agreements were signed for a total amount of almost 2.4 trillion rubles.
