Today, on September 10th 2015 it is seven years since specialized passenger port “Marine Façade”, the first and only of its kind in the North-West region of Russia and the largest in the Baltic region, was launched.
In 2008 the opening ceremony of Passenger port of Saint Petersburg was held during the call of the Costa Mediterranea cruise ship, which brought 2080 passengers aboard. Since the beginning of operation, the Port has received over 3 million passengers, over 1 400 cruise and over 200 ferry calls. During the current cruise season Passenger port of Saint Petersburg welcomed 13 ships for the first time, which almost twice as much as in the previous year.
In 2015 cruise season the Port has experienced full birth occupancy two times – on the 1stof July, receiving 14 568 passengers and thus setting an all-time record, and on the 18thof July, breaking the recent record with 14 996 passengers. On July 24 the record amount of passengers has arrived on one ship – 4 035 people aboard Regal Princess (Carnival Corporation and plc).
"Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg "Marine Façade" PLC has actively participated in preparations for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945: Passenger port of Saint Petersburg was decorated for the holiday, a range of social and cultural events for veterans and school children was held, targeted assistance was provided to veterans. On June 18th an agreement on cooperation in developing St. Petersburg cruise and ferry tourism was signed between the St. Petersburg Committee on Development of Tourism and “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC. Also in July 2015 the management of “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC has held a range of meetings with the Chairman of the China Society of St. Petersburg Mr. Chen Zhigang, participated in meetings with managers of Shenyang companies operating in different spheres of business and with representatives of ExpoForum International LLC.
St. Petersburg consistently attracts more and more cruise tourists from all over the world. Presently, citizens of 182 countries have visited our city aboard the ships that call Passenger port of Saint Petersburg. This demonstrates the increased interest on the international cruise market and shows that St. Petersburg reinforces its leadership as a Baltic Sea cruise destination.
