At the invitation of Kotka city mayor Henri Lindelöf representatives of “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC visited the gala reception dedicated to the City Day, which took place on October 1st, 2015, in Belmond Grand Hotel Europe. During the reception the Kotka port reconstruction project was presented, as well as the plans for a large commercial area on the territory of the terminal, that will include the Designer Outlet Village – the core of the project, which presupposes development of shopping tourism in Finland. Also within the port territory it is planned to build hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, apartments, a cinema and a yacht marina – all in the vicinity of the famous Maritime Museum of Finland. The first phase of construction, which includes Designer Outlet Village, is scheduled to be complete by the summer of 2017. In 1.5 years only Russian citizens and tourists from all over the world will be able go for shopping tours in Kotka, explore the history of this fascinating region and enjoy the beautiful nature of Finland.
During the event representatives of “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC have discussed the plans for state border checkpoint reconstruction at Passenger port of Saint Petersburg and the prospects of year-round ferry traffic connecting St. Petersburg and Kotka. “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC actively cooperates with Kotka city administration and the Cursor company, which is responsible for promoting the South Finland region as a destination in maritime tourism. The parties agreed on future cooperation and experience exchange, and settled the visit of “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC representatives to Kotka this December.
