A press conference on the upcoming 2016 cruise season and on Passenger port of St Petersburg development prospects was held.

Today, April 30th 2016, a conference on the upcoming 2016 cruise season and on Passenger port of St. Petersburg development prospects was held at the press-centre of Interfax North-West news agency.
 
 
Commercial Director of “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC Alexey Panfilov  highlighted main lines of development for Passenger port of St. Petersburg and the main expectations for the season 2016.  He also informed about the expected substantial increase of calls of cruise vessels (almost 20%) in 2017. 260 cruise ships which is the record number will call to the Port next year. The representative of  “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC noted that during the preparation for the cruise season all necessary engineering works have been completed, so the infrastructure is ready for season 2016.
 
The Deputy Chair of the St. Petersburg Committee of Tourism Development Rimma Sachunova has noted the growing trend for the development of marine tourism and the positive impact of Passenger port St. Petersburg which infrastructure meets the highest international standards on promotion of inbound tourism. In 2015 more than 800 000 passengers arrived to St. Petersburg by sea (total amount of tourists – 6,5 million).
 
 
Head of SpbGKU “External Transport Agency” Alexandra Bahmutskaya reported on the plans for berths reconstruction at English Embankment and Lieutenant Schmidt Embankment. She noted that for the period of reconstruction cruise ships will berth at Passenger port of St. Petersburg. The representative of “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC confirmed that the Port has possibility to accommodate and service additional cruise ships. Also Alexandra Bahmutskaya mentioned the growth of marine passenger traffic in comparison to avia traffic.
 
Representatives of the leading media of St. Petersburg had a chance to receive information to their relevant and interesting questions.
