"PP SPb MF" PLC at the annual meeting of the Baltic ports representatives

Representatives of Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg attended a regular meeting of ports representatives of the Baltic Sea: Copenhagen, Helsinki, Rostock, Saint-Petersburg, Stockholm and Tallinn, which was held between 9
th and 11
th of November in Helsinki (Finland).
It is remarkable, that for the first time the event took place within the Green Cruise Port project. This programme was founded under the auspices of the European Union and aims to develop effective solutions on the environmental protection and sustainable development of the cruise industry.
Participants discussed the prospects of the development of the cruise market in the Baltic Sea region, including the possibility of extending the cruise season in the Baltic Sea during autumn season. Also, the parties exchanged opinions regarding expansion of the interaction with cruise lines.
Moreover, the participants discussed the plans on developing the infrastructure of the Baltic ports which is necessary for the reception of ships and providing the additional services (wastewater collection). Representatives of the leading European companies in the specified sphere told about the most advanced practices in the wastewater collection and solid waste processing.
During the event the reconnaissance visit to the factory of the wastewater collection was organised for the participants, which demonstrated the last decisions in the sphere of using the renewable energy, including biogas.
Following the meeting, it was agreed to continue cooperation for the promotion of the Baltic Sea region, including so-called "low" season. In particular, it was agreed that the next joint meeting of the Baltic Sea ports representatives with CLIA representatives will be held in Fort Lauderdale (USA) in March 2017 during the Seatrade Cruise Global.
