Representatives of the Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg visited Turku Port

Representatives of the Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg visited Turku Port on August 22-24. A significant communication potential between Saint Petersburg and Turku was stressed during the meeting attended by the representative of Turku Port. The official meeting was dedicated to the discussion of perspective for establishment of year-round sea passenger service between Turku Port and Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg. The parties stressed the effective business relationship with colleagues from Finland, which enables information exchange between the ports, learning from the best practices and consistently improving the level of their work.

     

It is worth mentioning, that several cooperation agreements and declarations between Saint Petersburg and Turku have been singed recently. The latter was concluded only one year ago, on July 21, 2017, between Saint Petersburg Government and Kotka city administration. In order to implement this document, Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg also signed the agreement with Turku Port, which opened a new chapter in the relationship between the organizations guided by the principles of partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Apart from that, several days before the visit of PP SPb MF, PLC delegation, Turku Port singed a statement of intent with the city administration aimed at the establishment of unified municipal passenger terminal of the port, which will be available for the city dwellers and become a new “attraction point” in Turku. The intention of city authorities is to replace existing isolated terminals servicing different ferry lines and cruise liners.
As part of visit, representatives of PP SPb MF, PLC held negotiations with Turku city administration, visited Meyer Turku ship-yard and City Marine Museum. These meeting helped the parties set out specific steps to intensify cooperation in the field of development of sea cruise and ferry tourism.

     

Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg implements projects regarding infrastructure development aimed at the improvement of maritime links with Finland as part of Cross-border cooperation programs within European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument.
