Press conference dedicated to 2018 navigation results of Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg

Today, October 24, a press conference has been held at the press center of the TASS News Agency dedicated to 2018 passenger navigation results of Passenger Port of St. Petersburg.
V.A. Kashirin, Director General of Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg "Marine Façade" PLC, summed up 2018 cruise navigation of Passenger Port of St. Petersburg, bringing attention to the facts that compared with 2017, passenger traffic and the number of ship entries increased by 11% and 8%, respectively. Based on the established 2019 ship entry schedule, passenger traffic is also expected to increase up to 625,000 passengers next year, despite a smaller number of ship entries (from 270 in 2018 to 262 in 2019), which is explained by the global trend of constantly-increasing ship dimensions.
Next year, Passenger Port plans to host 10 new ships: the Viking Jupiter, the Nieuw Statendam, the Marella Explorer, the Norwegian Pearl, the AIDAprima, the Vasco Da Gama, the Norwegian Spirit, the Spirit of Discovery, including ships with a passenger capacity of over 3,000 persons, i.e. the AIDAprima, the Explorer of the Seas and the Celebrity Reflection.
Nana Gvichiya, Deputy Chairperson of the Tourism Development Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) pointed out growing interest in cruises as a separate type of tourism and recreation, and also reminded of a concept for the development of yacht tourism and water tourism currently prepared by the Committee. The concept for the creation and development of yacht tourism will be calculated until 2025, and the concept for the development of water tourism - until 2030.
Alexandra Bakhmutskaya, Director of External Transport Agency St. Petersburg State Public Institution described the 10-year activity of Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg "Marine Façade" PLC, an operator of Passenger Port of St. Petersburg, as successful and efficient, mentioning, on her part, that the government will continue to consolidate the berthing infrastructure.
Answering journalists' questions, V. A. Kashirin, Director General of Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg "Marine Façade" PLC confirmed the process of transferring of the Marine Terminal with the adjacent land plot (1 Sea Glory Square) to the management of Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg "Marine Façade" PLC, together with terminals on Lieutenant Schmidt Emb. and English Emb., and expressed hope that the issue would be resolved before the end of 2019.
