14 November 2018
On November 14, 2018, Solo Sokos hotel Palace Bridge hosted the international conference "Involvement of cultural and natural heritage objects in the world tourist routes". The conference was organized by the Committee for tourism development and held under the auspices of the VII St. Petersburg international cultural forum. Deputy head of the Federal Agency for tourism, S. E. Korneev and Chairman of the Committee for tourism Development E.V. Pankevich delivered a welcoming speech. Sergey Korneev noted the importance of compliance with certain criteria for the inclusion of new destinations in sustainable tourist routes, such as the "Golden ring" and "Silver necklace". He also pointed out that St. Petersburg, despite the significant growth of tourist flow in recent years, should be considered not only as an independent destination, but also as a starting point for a tourist route involving the nearest regions, which will strengthen the brand of the city and attract new categories of tourists. E.V. Pankevich cited as an example the program of cross-border cooperation "Russia – South-Eastern Finland" 2014-2020 (hereinafter – the Program) as part of the discussion of thematic routes and cooperation with the cultural and tourist community. Passenger port of St. Petersburg cooperates with the port of Haminakotka on the project of reconstruction of the marine border crossing point in the Passenger port of Saint Petersburg as part of the above mentioned Program.
Speakers of the conference presented reports in three sub-forums: "Development and promotion of new routes and interregional projects in tourism", "Development of information technologies as part of the promotion of tourist routes and interregional projects", as well as "the Emergence and development of new types of tourism". The representative of the Passenger port of St. Petersburg delivered a presentation on Demand for cruise tourism in the Baltic region and in the world.
