Considering the tendency to increase the capacity of cruise ships and their size, PP SPb MF, JSC began the work on designing offshore dolphins at the berth No. 7. The implementation of the Project provides for the reconstruction of the berth No. 7 by building three offshore dolphins with connecting bridges and increasing the length of berths No.No 6 and 7 (the berth front) by 108.6 meters.
The developed design documents provide for step-by-step performance of works on the reconstruction of berth No. 7 of the Port:
Stage 1: construction of the dolphin No. 1.
Stage 2: construction of the dolphin No.No. 2 and 3 with dredging works.
At the end of Stage 1, the existing length of berth No. 7 will increase by 41.6 meters to be 416.6 meters. The total length of the berth front (704.6 long meters) will provide for simultaneous calls of two ships: a 294.0-meter-long one (to the berth No. 6) and a 333.3-meter-long (to the berth No. 7).
The execution of Stage 2 works provides for additional extension of the berth No. 7 by 67.0 meters. At the end of Stage 2, the length of the berth No. 7 will be 483.6 meters. The total length of the berth front (771.6 long meters) will provide for simultaneous berthing two 333.3-meter-long ships at berths No. No. 6 and 7. The extension of the front line of the berth No. 7 entails dredging of the Port’s water area within the work scope of 2.63 hectares. In accordance with the construction management project, dredging work shall precede the start of the construction of dolphins No. No. 2 and 3.
